It is so sad how rape has become so casual in today’s world. Going through social media and seeing people promoting and justifying rape cases is disheartening. Quite alright men get raped too but recent cases has been girls. We should not try to use the fact that men get raped too to justify this diabolical act.
We need to understand also that there is no outfit that screams “rape me!”, so how you dressed is no justification. It’s a dumb reason to stand by rape. A lot of decently dressed women have been raped even with hijab covering them from head to toe. A recent case in mind is Bakarat in Ibadan who was raped and murdered in her home.
Uwa was also raped and killed right in the church so there are no questions of where they were or how they were dressed. In all of these, you find a lot of rape apologists blaming the victim instead of the culprit.
Yes, men get raped too but this is no competition. We cannot also drag all men because there are upright men out there who stand and are still standing against rape. Its high time to pull our resources together, put our heads together and make sure every rapist out there gets Justice and everything coming to them.
Rape has been around a long time and we shouldn’t let this diabolical act be a norm in today’s society. A rapist can be anybody; from your family member to your friends. They are all around us so use your voice to fight for justice. stop being silent. SPEAK UP. SAY NO TO RAPE
